A Day Trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Updated: Sep 2, 2022

I had thought that I need to visit Malaysia one day. No reason for it, but I thought it would be great. Let me tell you this short-trip experience.

Finally, the day was coming. I was super excited, even though I just had one day to go around, at least I could do something and what Malaysia would be like. It couldn’t stop my excitement. Kuala Lumpur was my stop point, cause I already knew that there were a lot of thing to do there.

While telling you my solo trip experience in this blog, maybe there are some tips I’d like to share, so at least you can figure out, even just a little, before starting your solo trip to Kuala Lumpur, and of course! It’s to make sure that your experience would be fine as what I did or even much better. Just keep in mind, while traveling it’s important to have a map with you cause it would help you a lot reach your destination. You can go anywhere spontaneously, but having an itinerary would be much better. That’s the highlight of your journey!

Something you should know before reading this blog is that all I'm going to tell you just based on my experience. So maybe I don't mention or even tell about some places you intend to visit.

Let me notice this that fare or any prices writing on this post is when I took the time, so it may be fluctuated since the rate would change year by year. So please stay updated everything about it!

Keep in mind that the currency of Malaysia is Ringgit (MYR), so please make sure you have this currency with you before heading to Malaysia, but if Ringgit isn't available in your home countries, you may bring USD as an alternative way, then you can exchange it to MYR then when you arrive.

First of all, I tried to find out all about the tickets and best places to visit around Kuala Lumpur, and what kind of transportations I needed to ride before starting the trip. As I intended to visit Kuala Lumpur in a day, I didn’t find out more information about any places to stay such as hotel or hostel. However, if you guys want to make a trip more than a day, just try to find out all about the best places to stay there with affordable price absolutely. Kuala Lumpur have a lot of it!

Upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur, first place I wanted to visit, of course Twin Towers (Petronas Towers), as it’s the icon of Malaysia. Couldn’t stop this curiousness, then I rushed to get there. Airport transport is available if you want to get the city, KLIA Express. It’s affordable, but the final service only for KL Sentral. It spent 100 MYR to have round-trip ticket. It is relatively the fastest one since it just took for about 1 hour 38 minutes to get KL Sentral.

KLCC Station is the closest station to get Twin Towers. If you intend to get there directly from the airport, you need to transit at KL Sentral first, then continue getting on Kelana Jaya Line (KJL) LRT towards Gombak Station. Ticket for KLIA Express is not valid for KJL LRT, so you need to buy another ticket for LRT. The ticket fare was about 4.20 MYR and it’s only for one-way trip. Once arriving at KLCC Station, just immediately looked for the sign that directs me to exit gate near the Towers.

Note : The departure and arrival time are flexible and depend on the train schedule

After having a great vibe from Twin Towers, it would be much better to go around KLCC Park (Suria KLCC), it’s accessible within a 15-minute walk from the towers. That would be obviously perfect. Having a little relax or small recreation at this park and it such as a nice spot to take a photo of the towers from here I think. This place is really nice to have some fun activities after getting exhausted from the journey and just felt the beautiful touch of small nature in the city center, saw the heavenly green insight, took a stroll along the footpaths with quiet and pleasant vibes. I enjoyed this park very well. I think this would be the perfect place for you who want to have a jogging and enjoy the lush greenery. A lot of kid-friendly attractions you can find here, such as Lake Symphony, Petrosains and Aquaria KLCC, etc. So just bring your families, you would get an amazing leisure.

Having a relaxing time at the park was done, my curiousness about Malaysia still went on and on. Taman Tasik Perdana (Perdana Botanical Garden) or maybe it’s known as Lake Garden was my next trip to visit. It’s the oldest botanical garden in Malaysia. There are many interesting spots to see and visit such as Hibiscus Garden, Butterfly Park, Laman Perdana, and Heritage Park. It was easy to get there, since I needed to take the same train with reverse destination, KJL LRT towards KL Sentral Station, and got off at Masjid Jamek Station. There are 2 options to get right there, by walking on foot and it would take time for about more than 16 minutes, or taking a bus with number T280 and stop at Taman Tasik Perdana.

This botanical garden operates from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. and it’s free, except for Hibiscus Garden, you have to pay 2 MYR for the ticket and 6 MYR for entering the Heritage Park. UI think this is the right place for breathtaking with perfect scenery of little jungle in the middle of city. The peaceful and quiet energy was really strong while strolling along the paths. Those words described this park obviously. It’s a kind of the perfect place when you want to immerse yourself to the nature. I just had a seat at alongside the small river and enjoyed the dazzling vibes around. This was very spacious and it was impossible to explore the entire park in a day.

I just had a seat at alongside the small river and enjoyed the nature vibes around. Well.. That was I did when in Kuala Lumpur. Very short trip cause I think I just spent less than a day but perfectly memorable. I was beyond happy to have a great experience in Malaysia like this, even just a little. Although, I visited the park mostly in Malaysia, but it was till amazing. It absolutely encouraged me to expand the exploration and have more experiences in Malaysia. There are so many places I would like to explore in Malaysia actually.

Last but not least, this is not the end of all. I just can’t wait to make another itinerary for the upcoming trip to Malaysia ahead, to make more stories as well. Just let me write it, and tell you then in the another section.

I hope you would have a great trip while coming to Kuala Lumpur and it can be one of the references you need as well when intending to go on a solo trip or even have a transit in Malaysia. See you Malaysia!!

I’ll be right back!!
